From script to screen…

Terror Road is the first story in an upcoming short film horror anthology.  Created by The Skeleton Crew,  the project was completely shot in two nights at a Boy Scout camp in Paisley, Florida.

The script was written with the lead actress, Surely Alvelo, in mind.  Having worked with her on several previous projects, Writer/Director Brian Shephard knew Surely would give the perfect perilous performance.  Surely’s credits include Captain America: Civil War, Sleepy Hollow (TV Series), and Stan Against Evil (TV Series), just to name a few.

Several kids were considered for “the boy”, with Brayden Benson ultimately winning the part.  Ten years old at the time of filming, Brayden’s dedication was remarkable.  He was fitted with a custom “shark teeth” mouthpiece created by VampFX in Orlando.  This required a cast of his entire mouth and teeth to ensure a vacuum sealed perfect fit.  Brayden also wore stage contacts for the film, even though he had never worn any sort of contacts before.  A few of Brayden’s credits include Tag, The Teacher Project (TV Series), and Halt and Catch Fire (TV Series).

Production took place on May 25th & 26th, 2018.  In keeping with the 80s horror feel of the piece, Director of Photography Erik Van Lenten shot with vintage anamorphic lenses.  The director also opted for longer takes to emphasize the tension and dread, as well hiding the protagonist until nearly halfway through the short.

Post-Production immediately followed, with famed Friday the 13th composer Harry Manfredini handling the score.  Sound mixing was done at Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL, and color grading was done by Bryan Smaller at Company 3 in Los Angeles.

Terror Road is currently entered into more than forty-five film festivals around the world.
